I’m English so I can’t compleat in this comp but can do harder stuff than the stuff abive
Are yurchenkos with no flip alowed in Xcel Diamond
Yes they are
I have all of the reqierments for excel platinum but then I would be the only girl in platinum at my gym. I want to ask my coach if I can move to platinum, but would I be allowed to compete on my own?
Yep! You can be the only gymnast in a level at a gym.
I can’t do a back handspring (or a bridge kickover (I know lane)) but I got moved to xcel gold I is xcel gold anyways
Do I need a back handspring by now
No, you don’t need to have a back handspring for Xcel Gold. There’s a few people in my group who don’t have back handsprings and were able to compete Gold just fine.
But the bhs is needed a lot in the future on multiple events and there aren’t really anyways around them, so it would be good to get it really soon.
There are actually many ways around back handsprings. I am a former JO level 6 gymnast (I am switching to Xcel platinum for more freedom) and I cannot do back handsprings because I have shoulder issues and I have many options for tumbling still. My tumbling passes last year were front handspring step out, round off, back tuck and front pike.
Ya she right
it would be good to have it for later but yeah I’m in gold and I don’t have it consistently
There are a lot of alternatives to a back handspring
Would a kip, cast (above horizontal), clear hip, kip, squat on, jump to high bar, tap swing, counter tap swing, flyaway, work?
Yes
what are some front tumbling passes I can do instead of a front handspring front tuck its not working out for me
Yes, one of my teammates has that exact routine
are u edens sister
Yessss muahahahaha
Would a kip cast above horizontal backhip circle squat on Jump to high bar kip cast under swing dismount be allowed?
no it wouldn’t you need a clear hip
My daughter is in Xcel Platinum
Where can i find the A and B valued skills
https://emethgym.com/team/team-parent-resources/skills-defined/
These skills may be slightly outdated, some may be worth less and not all of them are there but here is a website that hopefully can help you 🙂
I’m trying to go platinum and all I need is vault any tip’s?
In platinum the rules have changed you need to compete and half on half off
Good I just got my half on half off!!
What is a half on half off?
It’s like a round-off jumping with two feet onto the table and then twisting halfway to end facing the wall in front of you
You don’t need a half on half off, just some vaults will give you a lower start value.
you start out of a 9.8
Now with a front handspring it’s a 9.7 but if you good at it you can get less deductions than a half on, so just do whatever one suits you better.
Can you do a front handspring and a half on or half on and half on half off?
Yes
Is there a required # or limit on the amount of hours per week of practice for an excel platinum gymnast?
No
Mine goes 16 hours a week
Jeez… I’ve met level 8’s and level 10’s who train less hours
me to …. our xcel team only trains 3 hours a day
I’m moving to excel from level 6, The excel team at my gym only practices 2h 30 minutes…
would a kip, cast (above horizontal), mill circle, jump to high bar, kip, front hip circle, cast, flyaway work???
Yes
No
Omg are you from asg emi?
maybe 😉
No you need a B value skill
For beam, since you can do an acro series with or without flight, would it be possible for me to do a backwalkover back tuck dismount because it is a connection and has flight it would just be my dismount. Can that be allowed?
Yes it would count, you may get deducted points for it depending on whether the judge is nice or not but its allowed. I used to do a handstand, back walkover, back tuck and it just depends on the judge.
My coach said that a flyaway with a half twist counts as a B skill for platinum bars. Is that true?
yes thats correct
So, does this mean if a gymnast dismounts with a flyaway half, they wouldn’t have to do a free hip?
yes because it’s a b value skill.
Has the cast requirements changed ? Judges keep saying that our girls are not meeting cast requirements and they all at least parallel.
Aimee,
I think it needs to be at least parallel (horizontal). But in the code of points it says horizontal or above. Make sure to check that their toes aren’t below their waist in the cast. when i was competing, my coach said that my toes were not parallel with the rest of my body, so i got a 0.5 deduction.
Hope this helped,
Marisa
I have all the requirements to be an xcel platinum, and I am one, but I am going to nationals in Florida this year, and I want to know if I need a certain all around score to get into regionals? If not how do I get in?
Platinum needs a 35.50
Hi! I’m moving to Xcel Platinum for the 2018-2019 season. Would these skills qualify to be in my routines?
Vault: Front Handspring 1/2 twist
Bars: Kip, cast back hip circle, squat-on, jump to high bar, long hang kip, cast-away, flyaway.
Beam: Split jump, Back walkover (maybe a switch leg), Cartwheel, and back tuck or branny dismount.
Floor: Roundoff Back handspring back tuck, front tuck roundoff (or front pike), full (360 degrees) turn, Split leap side leap.
Thanks,
Marisa

P.S. Does anyone know a good youtube channel or website for Xcel floor music? If so, do they have any sassy ones?
It is fine except for the back walkover on beam; it says you need to have a skill with flight, like a back handspring on round off, or a series that can either have flight or not
I am almost 14 years old and I am a level 8 gymnast who is now diamond Xcel it you have any questions I am also a coach and I have been training for a long time
I’ve been reading A and B skill lists on the internet, and have seen both split jump and split leap on the beam classified as B skills. Is this correct?
as long as the split jump hits 180 and the leap hits 180 without kicking into it.
Can you compete round off backhandspring back full In platinum? I’m new to excel.
vault: half on
bars: kip cast(above horizontal) clear hip, kip, squat on, high bar kip, cast down, flyaway
beam: leap backwalkover, backwalkover series, front tuck, straight jump, tuck jump, handstand
floor: round off back handspring back tuck, front pike, full turn(360), leap.
Is this good for Xcel Platinum?
Yup!
Yes for bars, beam, and floor. Vault you need a half on half off or with a half on you start out of a 9.8.
I have girls from England coming over to do a comp in the Bahamas – is there somewhere we can download a copy of the Xcel Code of Points? We think we’re ok with the routines but need to check a couple of things, like is a changement jump allowable on beam as a link in the jump series?
Can you do a roundoff backhandspring backhandspring for a pass on floor & still make requirements for the first pass?
I do sports 17 and 1/2 hours a week.

Can you do a giant in Platinum. My daughter is working on her giant, her coach says yes she can, but im seeing some things that makes me think otherwise.
I am from Australia and the programs are different but platinum (I think) is around my level.
Bars:
Kip cast to horizontal back hip circle, cast stoop on swing swing swing pullover under swing swing swing swing 1/2 turn dismount.
Floor:
Roundoff back handspring. Split leap split leap 180 degrees. Full turn. Back walkover. Split jump sizone. Front tuck.
Do you have to do a fly-away?
You don’t have to fly away but you can’t half turn dismount dismount must be an A value (undershoot , flyaway etc)
Can you compete a front layout front tuck in platinum?
Do you have to compete as a gold to be a platinum? I competed level 5 and went to 6 but moved to Xcel because of my after school schedule the Xcel schedule fit better.
If you come from level 5 JO then you can get into platinum without a 35.50. And other gyms have other expectations, so like my gym has a different requirement.
No you don’t, I came from level 5 and switched over to platinum. You just have to have all or most of your skills
So as one of my passes I do roundoff back-handspring back tuck, can I compete a roundoff back tuck as my other pass?
can excel platinum compete a yurchenko twist off or yurchenko with no flip
I think so, I know you can in level six but I don’t know about platinum

for the floor for the tumbling passes would a front handspring step out roundoff back handspring step out, and a front pike work?
What are some B skills on beam if I don’t have a back handspring yet?

your cast has to be above horizontal.
Yes it does
Hi, currnetly I am working a front full and am close to doing it on the floor. Would I be able to do this in Platinum or will I just have to to a front pike or front layout?
On floor, can I do a front tuck or front pike as my front pass?
So you don’t have to have a flyaway?
you don’t but the only other dismount for bars is an underswing dismount and it’s hard to get credit for that.
What are The most common a and B valued skills
Is a back hip circle a circling skill?
Floor:
Standing Back Tuck
Round off BHS Tuck
Round off tuck
Round off back handspring layout
Front Tuck
Front Handspring
back handspring back tuck

Full turn
back tuck as dismount
backwalkover on beam
leap
Vault:
Front Hand Spring
Bars:
Close to a kip
Back hip circle
squat on
jump to highbar
tap swinging
tap dismount
Plssss tell me if these would be alright to go to Platinum
i would say excel gold would be better. you do not meet all the requirements and even if you work hard on them you will still be struggling throughout the season.
Yes it is but it is not a clear circling skill. In a clear circling skill your hips do not touch the bar.
Ok, so i havent done gymnastics in 2 years but im going back soon and i have a lot of skills on floor like a round off back handspring tuck, standing, tuck, front hand spring..but i havent done bars in a while. However, I want to be on Platinum with my best friend. Do you think I could get into Platinum if i had a front tuck on floor, a RBHS tuck, backwalkover, back tuck as dismount on beam, front handspring on vault, and a kip on bars??
What value is a front full, and can u compete it in platinum?
Can a gymnast compete Platinum, qualify for state and regionals, and then be moved down to xcel Gold for the next season?
Is sole circle count as a circling skill in platinum
I think because it’s not your dismount that it would, but not 100% sure
What all around score do you need at state to qualify for regionals in Xcel Platinum?
you need at least a 34.000 at one meet to qualify
My daughters floor routine scoring is starting at 9.5 instead of 10. Why would this be happening? I assume she’s missing a required skill? She’s on XCEL platinum
Thanks!

Can you do a flyaway tuck off the high bar as your dismount in Xcel gold?

3. Is a layout flyaway considered a b skill?
4. Can you compete more than 1 b skill?
5. Can you compete punch front tuck on floor?
You can compete punch front tuck on floor. I did in Silver so if you do it wont be very advanced. The age range is typically ages 12-16 i think. I’m 12 and in gold.
Excel Platinum Vault……. Is a Yurchenko or Tsuk TIMER to stacked mats allowed?
do i need a flyaway for platinum? i am in xcel gold and i dont have my flyaway but otherwise i have pretty much everything else
No you don’t I have teammates that compete an underswing or sole circle dismount from the high bar.
I am on gold and have most of these skills. My gym is harsher and very much perfectionists and we coached Shane wiskus and are sending another one to the Olympics too. My goal is to move up the platinum this year, earlier than my other teammates. Does anyone have any tips to work towards that goal? Thanks
For platinum on floor if I do a front handspring step out roundoff back tuck and also do a one in a half turn (540), for my second pass can I do a roundoff back tuck, or do I need to do a B skill?
How many twists (Back pass) can i do as a xcel platnium on floor?
Can I do a round off back full as a tumbling pass in excel platinum?
Can I do a round off back full as a tumbling pass in excel platinum?!
Can a b skill be used in place of an a skill on floor?
For bars can I do kip, cast, free hip, kip, squat on, tap swings, fly away?
For beam can I do a full turn, straight and split jump connection , cartwheel cartwheel connection, and back tuck dismount?
And for floor can I do a full turn, front handspring tuck, roundoff tuck, and a normal leap or switch leap?
i am a platinum and I am the youngest one. is that okay? people say that I am not as good because I am 7.
Wow, good job being in platinum at age 7!! Even if you’re not as good you still deserve to be there so don’t let them get to your head.
Can you do a C value skill on bars in xcel platinum?
For bars can i do kip handstand turn kip squat on jump to high bar, high bar kip free hip, giant, toe on front tuck? And for vault can i du a yurchenko or a tsukahara tuck?
For bars can i do kip handstand turn kip squat on jump to high bar, high bar kip free hip, giant, toe on front tuck? And for vault can i du a yurchenko or a tsukahara tuck?
I have my flyaway but I just got back from a long trip and I lost the skill and I don’t have time to retrain the skill because competition season is coming up so I’m doing kip, double back hip circle, squat on, jump to high bar, kip, back hip circle…… and and me and my coach are thinking about doing a front flyaway, how can I connect that skill into my routine?
Great breakdown of the Xcel Platinum level requirements! It’s super helpful for both gymnasts and parents to understand what to expect. Thanks for sharing such detailed information!
For a split jump in excel platinum, what angle would it have to be to qualify as a B skill?
for beam I think it’s a 120 degree split jump.
Does anyone have tips for a back handspring? I have all of my skills for gold/platinum but don’t have a bhs, so I can’t move up.
On beam you have to put one hand on top of each other and then as soon as you get to handstand in your bhs you split your legs so you can land and when landing turn your front foot out and lunge and work that and you’ll have it.
thanks, that’s helpful!!!
I just moved from xcel gold and now I’m going to level 7 is that right
Would a half turn on my bad foot directly connected to a handstand/cartwheel/or jump count as a dance series on beam? Thanks! P.S can I compete a full wolf turn on beam in gold or platinum? Thank you!
