Over the next 4 months, I’m going to be putting on a series of 3 challenges similar to the Handstand Challenge to help whoever joins improve their gymnastics skills.

Update: The next challenge will be the 30 Day Press Handstand Challenge.

What will these challenges be?

They will be 3-4 weeks long with daily 10 minute mini-workouts. You will be able to do the workouts at home or at the gym. It will be a way for you to focus on one skill and really work to improve that one skill over the course of the challenge. You will be able to see your progress with before and after videos you take.

How will I stay motivated?

One of the reasons the Handstand Challenge was so great, is that we were all doing it together! Lots of people were posting videos daily, or every few days which was motivating to keep at it. (You can check out the pictures and videos on Instagram here) Also, with the upcoming challenges we will be using SkillTrakker, the new web program I’ve developed.

How will using SkillTrakker make these Challenges even better than the last?

SkillTrakker will allow you to track your progress throughout the challenge.

It will also help to:

  • Give you Accountability: by earning points in SkillTrakker every day of the challenge it will help keep you accountable to continue with the challenge workouts
  • Motivate You: SkillTrakker will keep track of your streak motivating you not to break it
  • Provide you with some Competition: by seeing all of the other gymnasts participating in the challenge on the scoreboard there will be some friendly competition

Can I do it with my friends or gymnastics team?

Absolutely! The more the merrier. In fact I think it’s more fun when you can do it with a friend to help you motivate each other! Tell them to sign up for the GymnasticsHQ email list so that they will get the announcement of when to register. During the Handstand Challenge several gymnastics teams did it together and it was great!

Will it be worth it?

I’m going to share some before and after photos and videos from the Handstand Challenge so you can judge for yourself! There was some real progress made!

Look how much straighter @nrkgymnast’s body position is in the second photo!

The @flippinggymnast definitely improved her form!

The before and after videos from @myasgymspams show an incredible improvement in how long she can hold her handstand! She was one of the winners 🙂

Convinced ?

If these challenges sound like fun to you, and if you’re looking to improve your gymnastics skills then stay tuned. An announcement of how to sign up will be coming in the next few weeks. For now, make sure you (and your friends) vote on the skills you want to improve through the challenges.

    • Thanks for your input! Whatever skill I create a challenge for I will definitely incorporate flex and strength exercises since you’re right, flexibility and strength are necessities!

  1. Hi, I think that the hadstand thing looks like a great way to challenge myself as a gymnast, and improve my gymnastics skills, although I can’t find where to get it. I am a subscriber and I use your stuff all the time! I’ve looked in my mail, but still don’t see it. Any suggestions?

    • Hi there! So glad that you want to join! There is no where to sign up yet. I will be sending out another email in a few weeks with a place to sign up once the next challenge skill is chosen based on the poll.

      So stay tuned 🙂

  2. I think the next challange should be bridges and backbends becuase they lead to everything for example, backlimber, backwalkover, backhandspring, and other stuff.

  3. I think the next challange should be bridges and backbends becuase they lead to everything for example, backlimber, backwalkover, backhandspring, and other stuff. And hopefully we do it. And where is the poll that we use to vote.

  4. I think that we should do a back tuck challenge. Also, I have a question. I don’t have skilltrakker, and I can’t get it, so how do I join the split leap challenge?

  5. I think that either a flexibility challenge or a bridge kickover challenge would be awesome. Also, how can I improve my gymnastics skills without skilltrackker? My parents won’t let me get it, but I would like the same results that you get doing skilltrakker. How can I improve those skills? I am a hardcore gymnast, so I wouldn’t mind working hard to get the skill.
