If you’re anything like us, you’re always looking for some fun gymnastics challenges to dig into – especially now that school is (most likely) out or soon will be and you’re finding yourself with a tad more time on your hands!
We asked Maya, a Level 8 gymnast (@mayaistumbling), to give these Chellsie Memmel challenges a try & rate their difficulty level, and we would love to see your attempts too!
# 1: Chellsie Press Handstand with Sidways Walk on Beam
Start in a straddle hold on the beam. Transition from the straddle hold to a press handstand on the beam. While maintaining a nice, tight body position in your handstand see if you can walk in your handstand sideways down the length of the beam. If you’re able to make it to the end, lower down back into a straddle hold to complete the challenge!
Maya rated this challenge a 5/5 and it was an unsuccessful attempt!
# 2: Chellsie Jump Rope on Beam Challenge with a Twist
Begin with one foot in front of the other standing on the beam. Jump rope while staying on the beam for 30 seconds – BUT, you must switch your feet back and forth each jump for the duration! See how many jumps you can complete in the 30 seconds without falling off of the beam!
Maya rated this challenge a 2/5 and it was a successful attempt!
# 3: Chellsie Pistol Squat Challenge on Beam
See if you can do pistol squats down the beam. Focus on your postural control and maintaining good form (no wobbles!) while walking and squatting the length of the beam. Make sure to keep a nice, tight body position!
Maya rated this challenge a 4/5 and it was a successful attempt!
We’d love for you to give these a try and make sure to tag us (and Chellsie!) on Instagram @gymnasticshq
