Tammy Biggs has been a member of the women’s national team coaching staff since 1986. She travels the country lecturing at national and regional coaching conferences and coaching at elite camps to help develop future Olympians. She coached 1988 Olympian Missy Marlowe and was a member of the 1996 Olympic team coaching staff.

I had the pleasure of hearing her lecture on a couple different topics recently, and let me just tell you she is AMAZING! I was in awe of how she makes teaching different body shapes look so easy. And how she is able to break down elements with different drills.

Here are some videos of her teaching various drills and developmental exercises.

Developing Body Shapes for Gymnastics

You can do this drill at home, no equipment needed!

Developing Flexibility for Gymnastics

Conditioning, Shaping & Flex with Sliders

This is a clip from Tammy Biggs’ video Conditioning, Shaping & Flex with Sliders. She is using these sliders from DGS.

Developing Leaps and Jumps

This is a clip from her Developing Leaps & Jumps for Gymnastics DVD.

Developing Great Round-offs

This is a clip from Tammy Biggs’ Developing Great Round-Offs DVD.

I hope these videos gave you some different ideas for practicing gymnastics at home or at the gym.

A great privilege, Tammy is simply a crack. ! Thank you for fighting for a teaching of gymnastics from knowledge to intelligence and respect for the profession. Out of professional intrusion! They destroy minds and bodies in formation.

The first drill Tammy showed with the shaping for bars with the round push up shape covering there ears in this nice hollow body Position and having them do the hops is great . I don’t think smacking there butt to make sure they are tight is appropriate . I think that’s a safe sport question ? Actually it’s not a question at all , its Unappropriate and not necessary!!!! I think the hip is fine but that looks more like spank on the butt I think my 16 year olds would be like Coach Tamas just spanked my butt. Nothing against Tammy she is amazing ! I have had the pleasure of watching her coach at the camp and she is the best coach ever !! Am I wrong for saying this are is it exactly what the USAG Certification trained me to do !! Thanks for the videos I will defiantly do the drill without touching there butt ! ‍♂️

These were very helpful. I was particularly fond of the “open shoulder push up” position walks and hops. The roundoff drill will definitely help our gymnasts with their power. THANKS!
