We had a ‘mental toughness coach’ come to our gym. Taking teenagers and have them face each other and say “I am fantastic” and having a emotion emoji chart so they can point to their feelings is in any way helpful then you don’t get this sport or kids.
The backlash is horrible with “what a waste of practice” parents wanting to be refunded for the seminar and the wasted practice day.
Sorry but these kids are crushed with homework and projects and some college hunting, a night time ritual? Ill be laughed out of a job by parents and kids. All this sounds like pandering and codling and not athlete building.

Athletes have to build and train their minds just as much as their physical bodies. It’s really helpful when coaches, parents and their support teams are aware of this and support it too. It definitely helps with less burnout in the gym.
