First off, why set goals in gymnastics? In a 2003 study conducted by Steven Waples of Texas A&M University, Waples looked at the differences in psychological characteristics between elite and non-elite gymnasts. One of the characteristics he studied was called Goal Preparation.
Waples found that elite gymnasts were more likely to set both short term goals in preparation for upcoming meets, as well as long-term goals such as qualifying for international events or college scholarships. It’s safe to say based on this study, then, that elite gymnasts habitually set and attain goals.
So we came up with a brilliant idea. Why not put together a 30 day SkillTrakker month that focuses on GOALS. But we didn't want actual gymnastics skills to take a back seat either so we combined it with FLEXIBILITY TRAINING. We've heard from many of you how much you need to work on your shoulder and split flexibility. So we designed a month around it and we're excited to share it with you!
You can see from Luana's before & after pictures, that just a few days of doing drills to improve your flexibility can lead to massive progress! Imagine what you can achieve in a month!
STEP 1: You'll Sign up for SkillTrakker
At only $7 for the month, it's the best bet you'll ever make. Join a community of other gymnasts all working towards a common goal, in this case, more confidence and increased flexibility.
STEP 2: You'll Login & Start Completing the Daily Assignments
You'll get an email with instructions on how to create your account. Then you'll login and start completing the daily assignments/stretches.
STEP 3: At the End of the Confidence & Flexibility Month You'll See Progress!
After you complete every assignments for the entire month you'll not only see progress in your before/after splits and shoulder flexibility, but you'll also feel more confident as a gymnast.

That's a great question and we have a great answer for you.
The amount of progress you make on your shoulders and splits will depend 100% on how much effort you put into your daily assignments! These stretches are designed to give you the most bang for your buck over the next 28 days. But if you don't do them or only do them halfway, then chances are you won't see much of a difference between your day 1 photos and your day 30 photos.
BUT...if you put in the daily effort and try your hardest, you can make great progess!
I train in the gym a lot of hours during the week and I'm worried I won't have the time to complete the daily assignments?
We know how much you train which is why we created assignments/stretches that can be done in a short amount of time each day. You can do the exercises in the morning before you go to school or even right before bed. These exercises were designed to be focused and effective so it doesn't take much time each day to see results. PLUS, stretching at home is something you should be doing anyway!
Is this a LIVE challenge?
Yes! You'll be going through the assignments daily with the other participants of the challenge. You'll all start and end at the same time so you'll be able to track your progress and see where you stand on the Leaderboard. It's a great way to stay motivated and to have a little friendly competition with other gymnasts working on the same goal as you.
What exactly IS SkillTrakker? I can't really tell.
First and foremost, SkillTrakker is an online community of other gymnasts who are working on mastering different gymnastics skills. In SkillTrakker you can keep track of the different skills you're learning on each event and watch the progess you're making. You can even download certificates as you master each skill! You earn points for completing daily challenges and with your points you can win prizes in the SkillTrakker Store. In the daily feed you can see what other gymnasts are learning and cheer them on through comments and high fives. Basically, SkillTrakker is a really cool way to practice your gymnastics skills while staying motivated and belonging to a community of other cool gymnasts like yourself!
How long is this SkillTrakker theme month?
The Goals & Flexibility theme month lasts 30 days. It starts on Sunday, September 1st and ends on Monday, September 30th.
Does it cost money to join the Goals & Flexibility Theme Month?
Yes, in order to participate in the SkillTrakker Theme Month you must be signed up for SkillTrakker which costs $7 for the month. At only $7, this is an incredible deal!! You'll not only get daily assignments, community, and accountability, but you'll also improve your confidence and flexibility! In fact, the cost of a typical recreational gymnastics class in the U.S. averages about $20/hr. The cost for private gymnastics lessons is at least double that. With SkillTrakker you get confidence exercises and stretches to complete at home, in addition to a tracking tool and an entire gymnastics community, for less than 25 cents per day!!!
What happens after the SkillTrakker Theme Month is over?
After the SkillTrakker Theme Month is over you can continue to participate in SkillTrakker monthly (for $7/month) to see even better results. The Leaderboard gets cleared at the beginning of every month and you'll earn points towards prizes in the SkillTrakker store. Most challengers find that their skills really see improvement after three to six months of consistent effort with SkillTrakker.
