Use Their Mistakes as a Learning Tool
If you’re serious about gymnastics, you need to understand that it’s a difficult sport. It takes time to learn the skills. Some skills may come super easily to you, while others are more challenging (even if they come easier to others), so you need to learn not to get too discouraged. Think of it like a puzzle – when you’re putting it together, it takes time. You may think you have a piece that fits but then it doesn’t (this would be either mistakes or maybe even mental blocks) so you have to keep trying (practicing) to find the correct one. You don’t get too discouraged when you have a piece that doesn’t fit – you just move on and keep trying to find the correct one. In gymnastics, you can’t get too caught up in the mistakes and allow yourself to become too discouraged or else it will affect your gymnastics. Remember to break it down, do drills that will help you achieve that skills. You have to recognize that you WILL make mistakes, you will likely have a mental block (or 10) at some point, and you just have to push through and persevere to accomplish your goals.
