Hello! I was just replying to Kira’s comment, also same question. I can’t do anything on bars except a chin-up hold, and a website told me I was a level 4. Thank you!

          • Porshca February 3, 2022, 4:11 pm

It depends on which skill it is

          • paulsmith@outlook.com April 25, 2022, 2:16 am

No because you use some of that knowledge to d other moves like a cartwheel turns into a roundoff and roundoff u turn into a roundoff backhandspring.

Yes I couldn’t do 2 of the bars skills and I got to move on to level 2 but I eventually mastered them in level 2

I used to do gymnastics and this reminds me of doing it. I quit because i let go of the bar and I was scared of heights and I still am but, I practiced some of these I can’t really do all lot of these because I haven’t done them in a long time.

And yeah, bridge kickover is a little tricky but, I’m just practicing it on a higher surface to kick over which is easier since I don’t have much to go. And I just keep going on lower surfaces until I’m ready to do it on floor! Thanks again!

        Dear gymnasticsHQ,
I want to join the pre team at this gym but you have to do a begginer-intermediate class first and be gifted in. Here’s my issue, I can do all level 1 skills all level 2 skills (but the bridge kickover) and all the level 3 skills (but the backhandspring) I’ve been doing classes since I was 3 and now I’m 10 I’ve been very left behind in my gymnastics career all because I can’t do a bride kickover I can’t get my arms straight enogh to kickover. How can I get the gym to let me join the pre team (or at least do a eveoluation) to see that I’m capable of some much more then pullovers and casts, forward rolls and backwards rolls, arabesque’s and handstand dismounts, and handstand flat backs. At my old gym I could do a cartwheel on beam! I’ve been very left behind because of mean coaches

Hi I’m eleven and I’m about to start gymnastics. I did it when I was 4-7 but I had to quit because of dance. I taught my self some stuff like walkovers, limbers and a front handspring but I don’t know anything about bar vault. I completely forgot everything I learnt when I was little on them and I’m scared I’m gonna be put with the little kids because I’m bad at bar and vault.
Is there anything I can do to practise bar and vault that I can do at home ??

I’m eleven too and about to start gymnastics, of you have monkey bars you can use those to practice bars and work on dismounts and you can also stack hard surfaces with pillows behind it for vault that’s what I do because I practice at home too. But if you have a front limber and all that I don’t think you’ll get put with little kids

And I wanted to go to a class but since I started learning when I was nine my parents thought I was to big and that I needed to start at a small age. But that didn’t stop me from doing what I love, I still need to master my handstands and front walkovers. Just believe in yourself and I know you can do it.

What you do is so have u ever seen a gymnast or someone you know do a handstand into a bridge? Well they had to go 4/4 handstand to do that, so a 3/4 handstand is a handstand where your legs go 75 percent the way up!

Well, as a Coach, You should know how to Teach, be nice and Remember to push your Students to more harder skills. Give them Water Breaks and Don’t give too much Conditioning 2-5 Types of Conditioning are fine. Plus, You can’t be a Gymnastics Coach if you don’t know Gymnastics or how to do a Certain Gymnastics Skill. First, if your teaching a level, EXAMPLE Level 1, You should atleast be a Level 3. For Each level your Teaching, you should be Atleast 2 Levels above the level you’re teaching.

Stretch and do conditioning, also back walkovers are pretty hard (I can’t do one myself yet) but use this website to help you. Put all of your time into this sport, if you don’t love it quit. Also for the split handstand get a spotter, do a handstand and get the spotter to put your legs into a split handstand. If u don’t have a spotter do it on the wall.

Hi Hayley, You can put a strip of tape down on the floor and pretend it’s a beam to get the feel of walking on a 4 inch beam! Bars are definitely tricky to do at home unless you have your own bar at home. Good luck!

Hi I am 14, I did gymnastics from ages 2-11. At my old gym we didn’t follow the USAG levels, we had our own system. I want to get back into gymnastics but I had spinal fusion surgery about a year ago (that means my back is fused in place with metal rods.) so I’m not nearly as flexible anymore. Also I’ve never been able to get a good back hip roll on the bars, but my teachers let me advance through levels anyway. I can do most of the things on levels 1, 2, & 3 requirements but I can’t get my backward roll back, except with a hill and even then I can’t land right. I don’t know which level to apply for at the new gym I’m looking into, please give advice how to decide what the right level is!

    • Pre team gal June 26, 2021, 7:47 am

      Hi Malia!
I am very happy your recovered from your surgery! I do feel bad for you that you can’t do some skills! I would recommend maybe go to basics when going to backward rolls! First try using a cheese mat and/or hill (I know it makes you can’t land right but I’m pretty sure EVERY gymnast has been there even me!) then try using a less steeper hill then a little hill and finally on the ground. If you still can’t do it Talk to your coach about skills and drills
